What a consultant can do that in-house can't
Not better — different. Some problems are easier to solve from outside the org chart.
Some technical problems are harder to solve from inside. Not because in-house teams aren't capable, but because of context, politics, and time.
Where outside help works well
- Honest technical audits, with no career risk attached.
- Sharp prototypes that prove or kill an idea quickly.
- Advisory for senior teams who want a sparring partner, not another report.
If the problem is well-defined and ongoing, hire. If it's ambiguous or one-off, bring someone in.
